About Natasha S. Black
Legal Experience
After graduating from the University of Washington School of Law in 2004 with high honors, I served for two years as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Marlin J. Appelwick at the Court of Appeals of the State of Washington, Division One.
In 2006, I joined the Seattle office of Davis Wright Tremaine, where I practiced until 2010. At Davis Wright Tremaine, I was part of the Trusts and Estates group, where I helped individuals and families and companies with a broad range of estate planning services. I was also part of the Litigation group, where I focused my litigation practice on trust- and estate-related matters, such as disputes over wills or questions involving the administration of trusts. Some of my pro bono work with the King County Bar Association was profiled in the King County Bar Foundation's 2009-2010 annual report and highlighted in the King County Bar Bulletin.
I formed Natasha Black Law PLLC in July 2010. My professional goal is to create flexible and personalized estate plans that help my clients achieve peace of mind. I was chosen by Super Lawyers as one of 2011's Washington Rising Stars in Estate Planning and Probate.
Personal and Educational Background
My background gives me tools to relate well to people from different cultures and with different goals. I was born in Tehran, Iran. I left Iran with my parents and my older brother shortly after the Iranian Revolution in 1979. We first traveled to Pakistan, and then to England, and next to Hong Kong. We were fortunate to get visas and come to the United States, and after a short time in New York City, we settled in New Jersey where I went to high school.
In college, I studied engineering, getting a bachelor’s degree with honors in civil engineering from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a master’s degree in structural engineering from Stanford University in Stanford, California. I moved to the Seattle area after graduate school to work for The Boeing Company.
Ultimately, my path led in a different direction and I attended the University of Washington School of Law. In the years since law school, I am pleased to have developed a law practice that allows me to both do interesting technical work and have the opportunity to meet clients from all walks of life.
For more information, please drop me a note, look at my resume, or see my profile on LinkedIn or Avvo. I also invite you to explore my law firm’s Facebook page (please be careful not to share personal or confidential information on public sites such as Facebook).
I live in Bellevue, Washington with my husband Craig, my sons Clark and Dean, and my sons' fish. I look forward to meeting you and learning about your life and goals.
